Kratom can be a beneficial plant if used correctly. If you find yourself having trouble figuring out the best way to take kratom, you’re not alone. We’ve been there and it can be hard to decide how you want to take kratom depending on your circumstance. In this guide we’ll go through the different ways you can get kratom powder into your body so you can get to healing! Here are the best ways to consume kratom:
How to Take Kratom Powder
If you’ve purchased powdered kratom then it may be a little daunting at first trying to figure out how to ingest it. Kratom is a plant and like most plants, it can have a strong herbal taste. Tastes are extremely subjective but the majority of people (including us) report that kratom is extremely bitter. If you haven’t tasted it yet then we suggest doing a taste test! Lick the tip of your finger, dip it into the powder, then dab that small amount onto your tongue and see how it tastes. Did you enjoy it? Most likely not. If you did then you can go to our Toss and Wash Guide to find the best method of taking kratom if you don’t mind the taste. If you’re like most people and found the taste appalling then you can try mixing the powder in a drink.
If you know your dosage then you can measure it out and pour it into a drink of your choice. We recommend a liquid that has a strong taste that will overpower the bitterness and the texture of the kratom powder. One of the most common drinks that people use to mix kratom powder with is orange juice. Kratom and orange juice don’t quite go together as well as peanut butter and jelly but they do complement each other in a few different ways. Orange juice has a strong enough taste that doesn’t completely get rid of the bitterness/texture of kratom but it does make it a lot easier. Depending on your dosage of kratom powder, this might be a great way to take kratom because you can do larger quantities easier. You just need to experiment a bit to find a good ratio but once you do, you’ll be able to mix the two and make yourself a few drinks to get your daily dose of kratom!
Lemonade, grape fruit, or cranberry juice are great substitutes for orange juice. Honestly, anything that’s citrus works great for kratom. The sour taste will really help offset how bitter kratom can be. We do not recommend mixing plain water with kratom unless you’re fond of the taste of kratom. Coffee is also another drink some like to mix kratom with. It’s not very popular but people do find it easy to have their daily cup of joe with their kratom. Two birds one stone and some find it complementing. Personally, we feel like coffee’s natural bitter taste doesn’t match well with kratom. In the end you may just need to experiment with different types of liquids to see what works well. Just remember that when you’re thinking about the best way to take kratom powder, you need to think about the taste and it’s texture. The taste is one aspect but it’s texture can vary when mixing it with liquids. If you don’t drink it quick enough or blend it well, the powder may go straight to the bottom and you’ll have a drink with wet chunks of kratom at the end.
Bonus:
One secret drink to get rid of the taste of kratom is…Chocolate Milk! Many in the kratom community swear by chocolate milk and kratom. Since chocolate milk is made with powder, you can mix kratom powder + chocolate powder, and then stir milk extremely well. We recommend investing in a shaker bottle to make this easier. Don’t take our word for it, try it out! Check out these Reddit posts that document their journey with chocolate milk and kratom.
Toss and Wash Method
If you’re one of the small percentage of people who don’t mind the taste of kratom or are willing to go through its texture and bitterness, then the Toss and Wash method may be for you! It’s one of the most popular ways to take kratom for seasoned users.
The toss and wash method is when you dose your powdered kratom, dump it all on your tongue, then wash it all down with water or other liquids. For many, it’s the quickest way to get kratom from A to B.
One of the pros of the toss and wash method of kratom is that your body is able to break down the kratom powder much faster than capsules. Also it’s a much quicker way to take large doses of kratom. You won’t have to drink a ton of liquids to finish your dose.
Warning: If it’s your first time doing the toss and wash method, we recommend trying it with a small dose. If you mess up then you might vomit, cough uncontrollably, or ruin kratom for yourself altogether. Make sure that the powder is suspended together on your tongue when you wash it down with orange juice or water. It’s very uncomfortable if the liquid mixes with dry kratom around your mouth.
Pro tip on how to toss and wash: When you drink the liquid, tilt your head back at the same time so that everything combines down your throat instead of throwing it into your mouth then swallowing. It creates less steps for you when doing this method. This will take some practice but eventually it will be second nature then take kratom powder will be an ease!
Parachuting Kratom
If you’ve never heard of parachuting kratom then you might want to read closely! Parachuting is when you wrap a powder in a covering, like toilet paper, and then swallow it. It’s essentially creating one big capsule for yourself. The great thing is, you can put as little or as much as you want. We have a great article on how to parachute kratom and all it’s benefits. In conclusion, there is no absolute best way to take kratom powder. Every person is different. If powdered kratom is your only option then we recommend taking it with liquid or using the toss and wash method. We suggest trying out all methods to see what best suits you. Of course, you don’t have to do a specific method every time. The beauty of having powder is that you can take it how you want!
